I received the Streamlight STRION today and wanted to get a sneak peek up for you before passing it along to my counterpart be torture tested.
Initial impressions are it’s BRIGHT, solid and well built. Even in broad daylight I was impressed with how bright it was.
It has a multi-function, push button tail switch which is extremely easy to use compared to some other flashlights I’ve had.
There are four output/intensity settings:
- High – 10,000 candela – 2 continuous hours runtime
- Medium – 5,000 candela – 4 continuous hours runtime
- Low – 2,500 candela – 7.5 continuous hours runtime
- Strobe – 10,000 candela – 5.5 continuous hours runtime
It uses a lithium ion battery which can be recharged up to 500 times and is fully charged within 3 hours.
It is IPX4 rated for water resistance, serialized for positive identification and is made of 6000 series machined aircraft aluminum. The glass is borofloat high temperature and is made with an anti-roll head.
The light it uses is the C4 LED technology which makes it impervious to shock.
The box contains a charger with both AC and DC adapters as well as a click in charger.
Accessories available for the light are:
- Colored filters
- Additional rechargeable batteries
- Rail mount
- Leather holster (basket weave and smooth)
- Nylon holster
- Safety wands
- Bank charger
Approximate price for the Streamlight STRION on Amazon.com is around $100.00.
I’m actually a little jealous that I’m not the one that’s going to be putting it through it’s steps, this is definitely one nice piece of equipment.
Stay tuned for the full review after it’s been put throughout the ringer.
